Seems a bit odd that they can't be bothered to keep the servers running.. on the upside, they're only sports games

    Though, 2005 is old..?!

I would understand if the xbox and PS2 consoles were no longer on sale and they just shutdown the servers supporting games only playable on those consoles. Games like Fifa 2005 are only a gen behind. They could atleast wait until Fifa 2007 is released.

Just seems like a way for EA to force people to buy the newer releases.

True, personally I cannot see any other reason than profit. Still does not bother me I never use EA anyway.

Does seem a bit tight; perhaps 2004 servers would be more reasonable.

Good advertisement not to use EA games - shot themselves in the foot with this move I think.

BF2 isn't hosted by EA themselves though is it, so I wouldn't have thought that would be affected?

Still needs a masterserver to keep track of all the public servers+ authentication of CD keys.
    EA do not impress me.

I was actually just kidding as that would be extreme; but the rankings themselves are hosted by EA.

Notice it's only the games that EA must think are losing profit, for instance, none of the BF games are there or CC Generals.. i doubt we'll see any of our favourites going offline any time soon, Blizzard still host Diablo 2 for example - althought they are vastly superior to EA..
