    ASUSTeK/Gigabyte merger on the cards?

Taiwanese news source Digi Times today writes that ASUSTeK is interested in acquiring fellow mobo manufacturer, Gigabyte, despite the companies refuting the claim.
ASUSTeK Computer is interested in acquiring another motherboard specialist Gigabyte Technology, which shows better strength in distribution, according to sources in the Taiwan motherboard industry. ASUSTeK's possible merger with Gigabyte is aimed to face rising competition from EMS provider Foxconn Electronics (the registered trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry), whose motherboard shipments have drawn near the leading motherboard maker, indicated the sources.

    PHP Code:

It could eventualy happen. Companies often deny things to control share price.

    ASUS split

There has been talk of splitting ASUS into two companies – the company officials have made various statements to this accord earlier this year. One company would concentrate on finished goods and the other on OEM business. Does ASUS need a distribution channel for the OEM business? I don’t think so. Finished goods? – perhaps.
