TerraTec Cinergy Hybrid USB XS DVB-T/analogue TV tuner

The surge in media PC popularity is ever increasing and with it comes a growing range of multimedia products. However, right now we sit in a phase of transition. Plans to turn off UK analogue TV are being made, with digital TV taking its place for good. Then there's high-definition broadcasts to consider. It'd be nice to think that any hardware you're buying into now is going to last a while, but PC users are fairly used to short system life-cycles. Still, we all try our best to be geared up for the future.

I think this is the thing I have been looking for following two failed attempts in purchasing a tv receiver for my laptop.

Shall this work on my Dell InspironTM 1300

    Intel® Celeron® M Processor 370 (1.50GHz, 1MB L2 cache, 400MHz FSB)

    Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition

    512MB 533MHz DDR SDRAM

    40GB Hard Drive

There's no reason why it shouldn't, Marc.

    Hi,

Sorry to bring up this old topic but, does this tv tuner actually have stereo output?

I bought Hauppauge's H900 just to find out the sound was mono, don't want to be wrong about this one too.

Hi Marc, I had a look there, but doesn't say anything.

I'm pretty sure they'd have mentioned if it had a stereo output, and them being quiet and not writing anywhere about it's audio capabilities, leads me to believe that it does not support it, also, read somewhere that hauppauge and terratec have the same tuner hardware, so both must be mono :/

    Marc,

It would appear to have stereo inputs but no stereo outputs - though my assumption is that it must output stereo via the PC's sound card to the speakers and so this will be available to you that route.

The link that you gave readily gets you to an exe file containing manuals in PDF format - and below is the spec from one of them.

As a follow up for people. I've got this puppy working with XP Pro x64 using the beta driver tucked away in the non-hybrid's driver pages, along with Terratec Home Cinema... works fine.

    Marc,

Audio inputs are easy - you just pop into a computer fair or an electronics components shop (such as Maplins) and buy little adaptors that let you feed multiple audio signals to the same input.

Here, I have various different types, for the smaller 3.5mm audio connectors, these are one-piece units - one male (for the output) and two females (for the input). I use these to, for instance, take the audio output from two PCs and feed that into a single pair of speakers

For phono connectors, I have short cables. Some are 1xmale, 2xfemale. These I typically use for AV - so will use use one adaptor for video and two for audio (L/R).

Others are 2xmale and 1xfemale. These I typically use for splitting the composite video and L/R audio from, say, a DVD player, so it can go, perhaps to a VCR and a TV.

As for connecting a TV tuner to an Xbox 360, I'm unable to say anything constructive (I'm hoping what is said above is constructive) because I don't know whether you are talking about connecting the TV tuner directly to the Xbox (which, surely, is impossible?) or connecting the tuner to your PC and somehow grabbing the output and passing it over to the Xbox via your home network.

    Care to explain your idea?

    Bob
