Is this just another way to pick our pockets or are Microsoft purely replying to demand and offering a decent service for gamers? :stop:

i'd take a wild stab and say that EA games will be the first one to utilise this feature! :\

Yessssssss let your anger flow Steven... Soon you will be at one with the d-a-r-k side..
Ahem.
Anyway, not shocking really and people have the choice to vote with their feet (so to speak) and just not pony up the dosh (in which case the model will fail and be replaced).

Gotta agree with you here Steven, this is really ridiculous.
If companies can succesfully sell in-game items to people for a limited time, what are people actually paying for when they buy the game? If it gets more and more succesfull less and less will be included in the original release.
It does just seem like another way to bleed us all dry. I just hope it falls flat on its face.
Surely it will be down to the game if an item will last or not... a sword isn't going to just disintegrate.
Could be fun though... all the random items in PSO on the dreamcast used to make me laugh.. something like that would be good.
Well they will not be getting 1 more penny of my money after I've bought a game.
Why should we have to pay for extra items with a "limited lifecycle". I'd expect this from someone like say blizzard for WoW and Sony for Everquest 2 but not Microsoft and a whole wide range of games.
Unfortunately, this might have a detrimental effect of playing games in the future. Can you image the uproar if Valve implement this into Counter-Strike source?
Just because the marketbase of people who own xbox360's is young, working males doesn't mean we're willing to pay for additonal extra's in games now does it?
Free market folks - if they don't offer value for money then no-one will bother. If the game is poo without add ins then don't buy it in the first place :p
Ye gods; sorry, but if you've already bought the game, and then shelled out for the "Xbox Live Gold Plan Premium Really Good, Honest" plan or whatever to go with it, they want you to pay MORE for an essentially imaginary "item", which you don't even get to keep without paying them more and more? When people get an Xbox, does it suck their brains out through their nostrils or something? You'd have to be mad, stupid, or probably both to go along with this.
Greed, thats all it is (though Im sure MS refer to it as developing a marketing strategy) but its all about the poppy aint it. It will adversely affect the quality and innovation in the games that we pay more and more for.
Paying extra for certain items etc is one thing, but to only get them for a limited time!? Although the success of such idiotic chat-rooms as Habbo Hotel, and the 'online currency' they use show how big that business can be (and how many are prepared to pay for pixelated faux-furniture...), I very much doubt sales will be that high if they use this system of removing items after a time period.
Also, these items have to be out of the ordinary, and really feel like 'extras', not items that were not included deliberately for after-sale. Even so, it does feel like a hell of a rip off :(
Have to completely agree with this, and these are my thoughts on the 'new idea'.. Steven the articles headline was spot-on!Quote:
