What are you on about? It's using up all of 10mb in total here :\ (6.7)
Happy with 6.7, so I'll stick with that for the time being.

up to you but since amd bought ati i think they should fix these problems that ati has. all the reviews are saying that ati catalyst cannot and will not be able to compete with the forceware.
well i have a review on catalyst 6.8
http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Ha...lyst_68/2.html
it shows that the performance for some games have immproved but not that significant especially in 3d mark
Stupid Question: What is an ati catalyst and will it work with my ait onboard (dont worry its not gonna be onboard for long).
I'm guessing it speeds up ure graphics as thats what a catalyst does in chemistry.

With love and many thanks,

i am not saying that catayst is bad but they should fix some problems personally i think that ati products are much better than nvidia, its just they should only fix the driver. i think that the problem with the driver as far a performance is maybe they were trying to fix some things but then it affects performance but again thats what i think.
Not sure about performance but I find I swear at the screen a lot less without it. Their control panel is a buggy .NET mess imhoOriginally Posted by EllTheGamer
If anyone is struggling with control center, just get the standard driver package without control center and use 'ATI Tray Tools' (not an ATI written util) to adjust your settings.
Hmm 6.8 eh, getting on for driver revisions...and STILL no stereovision support...thats the one place where Nvidia still beat ATI - and why when i get the funds to upgrade it will be an Nvidia card for me
I'll second that.Originally Posted by elneckio
I couldn't stand the extra gumpf that came with the Catalyst drivers. And why have a cyber chick thats like so 90s. All this loading up rubbish and then when the component bit needs loading it just freezes for a little while. Was such a relief when a colleague pointed out the non catalyst drivers and now I like my card properly.
Would I get a decent performance boost going from an X800 to a X1600 and extra 256MB? Enough to knock up some game settings?
I disagree. Are you like 5 years behind the times or somet?Originally Posted by mohammed
I hate Forceware, Nvidia drivers, do my head in. ive just gone from a X1800XT, with awesome driver support, every month. I now have GX2 7950, and well the drivers suck, ive tryd 3 different one's and Doom runs at 10fps, just like it did with my old 7800GTX. Im missing ATI already.
Whoops, it appears the HEXUS insult mirror has reflected that one upon yourself. I know we're not exactly at each others throats in this thread, but let's stay civil and prevent it getting nasty --Steve
I see you didn't like it when I edited your post. Stop offending people and I won't need to... Steve

Calm down he probably meant the CCC which is fecking horrible. There's nothing to choose between either on the actual drivers themselves in my experience (and I swap from one manu to another almost each time).Originally Posted by Smokey21
How is it horrible. it's a million times better than that forceware ****.
Oh my life, give it a rest folks.
NVIDIA's drivers are fine. ATI's drivers are fine. If they weren't neither company would be here. Now they both have their problems, in their own respective areas. Both have annoying Linux support. I've used both, both have their issues, I won't quantify them to save a debate on which side's is better.
As for control software, CCC has its issues, but so does NVIDIA's new control interface.
Bottom line is, no amount of fanboyism will make one side's driver package better than the other's outright.
^^ well said that man
Following on from my other post - since theres an ATI guy at the start of this thread...
could he (or anyone else) come up with any reasons why ATI don't supply a stereo3D driver with their driver kits (while Nvidia still do)?
Yes, I know stereo 3D is outdated and not very popular...but there is still a thriving community out there, glasses are still produced (such as the 'extra dimensional' ones) and the effects they produce can still do amazing things - in some cases even with TFTs.
It's just a shame that I will have to get an nvidia card next time and shell out more money, mess about reformatting (to get rid of the ati drivers), just for this feature which I sadly miss...used to be great fun playing UT2003 in stereo mode - almost like you could reach into the screen...
