Oh dear god it's the Mary Whitehouse brigade in full flow

I've been absolutely battering the "dead rising" demo recently and having much fun in the process. Does this mean I want to go down to the Trafford Centre with a few choice toys and go rampaging through the shops chopping people in my way?

Of course it doesn't, and it doesn't make me any less sensitive to violence at all.

I still hate violence with a passion, and I do not condone violence as a solution to anything, well... apart from ridding us of Simon Cowell on TV again

Maybe they should look at society in general rather than blaming games. I mean we have stories of 12-13 year olds running round in gangs, beating up and in some cases seriously injuring people for such small trival things.

Maybe there's another thing to blame such as the lack of authority at home as the children in question heard all the commotion a few years back about how smacking a child was illegal and should be banned as it violates their human rights. Another point could be that their parents are not enforcing rules as much as the last generation did, thus giving the kids what I call a free reign - you can see this in any local shopping venue at the weekends when a childs screaming for chocolate, toys etc.

If I did this when I was younger I would have got a clip round the earhole and a reason to cry. Nowadays, this is frowned upon and as such many times people give in to this to make them "shut up".

Another point ( last 1 I know.. ) - Turn on the News and today it's all violence this and violent attacks that with a war against this, that and the other. Do they not thing that the constant bombardment of these images is also to blame rather than a pixelated guy running round with a flymo ?

lol at this country, its people background upbringing and parents that cause all these problems not poxy video games, the story is if you not 18 you dont buy manunt.. and if you 12 you can stick with bajo kazoie and you will be a happy 12 year old not a phycotic nutter who wants to dismember people.

Oh I would love to when those idiots QUEUE up outside from 2am on Christmas day just so they can get in and get all the boxing day bargains.

I wonder who's watching their kids when they are here camping outside Selfridges just so they can get 70% off a designer dress they'll probably wear twice before going up a dress size due to all the takeaways they order

At the distinct risk of sounding serious, the 'Metro' is hardly a peer review of the scientists work, and by logical extension, neither is this article. Do you have a link to the journal/paper?

What the guy was thinking:

I know. If I publish a scientific paper suggesting something serious, even if it's unfounded, that will make me famous and important, so I may as well since I don't have anything reasonable to say.

The article is a bit strange, but I do slightly agree.

However it's not just games. Violence and sex is everywhere these days for everyone to see.
For kids certainly, with incredibly violent computer games, rap music about killing and hoes, the news only reporting terrible stories portraying how awful they think the world really is etc.

Computer games are just one very small factor, but on a whole I think people in general are becoming more immune to violence in certain ways.
I personally am completely against violence, I've never been in a fight. Infact I'm the complete opposite, I'm a peace love and harmony type person.

In todays world violence is just so common it almost goes unnoticed. I remember when I was young (I'm only 23 now!), a horrible crime would make the headlines for weeks and everybody would be in uproar about it.
This morning whilst in bed I was checking the news on my phone and the headline was something about a 4 year old boy being beaten over the head by an 11 year old with a brick. Completely horrifying.
Yet the world, and the news, will forget it by tomorrow as something similar will happen elsewhere to take the headline.

There's so many wonderful people out there doing so many wonderful things, it's just a shame you don't see the nicer stuff plastered all over the place.

Niceness doesn't sell. Unfourtuneatly people are obsesed with hatred, violence, and creutly. That's why we read about in our news and many people live that way.
