Corel launching Paint Shop Pro XI

In September 2004, JASC launched version 9 of Paint Shop Pro. The following month Corel bought the company. The next September came along and PSP 10 (or Corel Paint Shop Pro X) surfaced. It's a new September, and version XI (that's 11) is here.

Has it been a year since PSP 10? scary!

when i first saw the headline i was going to say "that was quick". guess a one year development schedule is pretty fast, but i didn't think it had come round so soon

ooh! handles RAW files. don't know if 10 did this too, but it's good to know

10 does do RAW, I have 10, use it for all the HEXUS graphics - VERY stable and so much more workable than previous versions.

Thats one thing I really should get round to learning how to do, yet just don't seem to be able to find enough time (or money) to learn photoshop. I'll have a look at PSP see if its any cheaper, and perhaps learn that instead

Does Adobe still release a Mac version of Photoshop? That'd explain the price difference

PSP 10 is very good, I find it very easy to use, my only critasism of it is that it puts some files in my documents/my psp and its very hard to remove them without issues.

Even if you remove every pointer to them in psp it still throws a fit, the only way to sort it is to taking a trip to the registry!

Programs should not be using my documents for anything why programmers think they can is very annoying!

C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application Data all the way please!

I can see why they've made it more Photoshop-esq in recent versions, but I still prefer PSP 7 - it's just so much faster, and that lets me double it up as a viewer/editor. I've started to look at FastStone MaxView and Image Viewer for that now though.

Although I've bought Photoshop to learn how to use it - I still keep going back to PSPX at home.

So much simpler and faster to do things in.

I've used 7 for a while (I got it free with a pack of CD-Rs), and then upgraded to 9 last year when it was being sold off in WHSmiths for £25.

Just had the email from corel offering the upgrade to 11 for £59 (inc. VAT).
Don't know if I'll upgrade just yet as I'm still trrying to find my feet with 9, although some of the new features do intrigue me.

Oh, and I find the My Documents thing very annoying too, as I just moved my documents folder to another drive in preperation for a re-install sometime soon (I usually prefer to move it when I first do an install but didn't seem to get round to it this time), and now I get a warning message everytime I use the crop tool

    RAW support

Well it looks like RAW support is now native in this version... didn't version X require a third party ap?

Nope, at least not for KM (took a patch) & they aren't as well supported as Canon & Nikon are for that.

Just tried out the trial and its slooooooooow, zooming in and out takes far too long.

It also does the annoying put files into my documents thing that can't be fixed with editing the registry keys thang!

It lasted 5mins on my system before being uninstalled again. I'll stick with the older version thank you very much!
