This is great, but what is the power usage at those frequencies. With the INQ reporting that ATI and nVidia will continue to soar to power usages that make the Pentium 4 look cool it's becoming an import question. Hopefully though we will get the Conroe equivalent in GPUs.
GDDR4 introduces some nice techniques to reduce its voltage, heat output and thus power consumption. It'll be the GPUs that gobble up a lot of the power.

One thingto recognise, world wide, is that people are into VOLUME not unit profit .
Take Conroe cpu's as an example....I mean...we ALL KNEW they went like excrement off a small branch, but they sure aint expensive! Why? Cos they'd rather sell them and move onto the next step.
Yeah there's expensive models in the range, always will be, but thats more bragging rights than real expectation of sales. Real sales volume is in the lower mid range. Always will be. Stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap.
Glad the silicon wafers came out of the oven so nicely tbh :)
All means more frames per second so it's all good.
Buying a new graphics card has become an agonising process though.

NEC GX2 thingy, Had a play with one. was very impressed.
If you are talking about the 20WMGX2, it is a great monitor. I actually won it from NEC, but it is the best monitor I've ever owned. Good choice.Quote:
