Tried lightscribe, works great except for taking 10minutes to write a few letters.
yeah, shame the LightScribe part of it isn't 18x
no matter how simple of complex the design of a lightscribe image, the laser is passed over the whole surface up to the last 'pixel' at 1x.
Does anyone actually use external burners? I sure as hell don't and dont see the need. Except, possibly laptop users, but even then, upgrading a laptop drive is actually simpler than a desktop drive! usually just one screw and slide.

Of course, when I'm talking about using an external burner with multiple PCs, I'm really talking about the sort of arrangement I have here - an external drive bay into which I pop the latest and greatest burner. So I'm not talking about buying an external burner as such.
Oh, and perhaps a more relevant question is, who in their right minds would burn a DVD at 18x?
If you want a good burn, in my experience, slow is better, though I'll usually stick with 4x, rather than 1x or 2x as some folk who take their burning very seriously do.
