Logitech buys Slim Devices for $20 million

Slim Devices' CEO Sean Adams announced yesterday in the company's support forums that it has been acquired by keyboard-and-mouse giant Logitech. The privately-owned firm makes widely-respected (if not widely sold) network media players, most notably the Squeezebox family and the Transporter. According to Logitech, it's paying $20 million cash, "plus a possible performance-based payment, tied to reaching certain future revenue targets".

That is good, I wonder if Logitech will nurture them as a subsidury (sp?) or just incorporate them under the Logitech brand?

From the thread on the SlimDevices forums, it looks like they will operate as a seperate entity, at least for the time being. They are staying in the same offices and all the staff are remaining.

Very often in these situations, the top management team are tied into staying for a period of time, maybe one year or two.

After that they're free to take the money and run. I'll be curious to see which of the top bods is still there a year or so down the line.
