Release version of Firefox 2 browser due in next 24 hours

The latest release version of HEXUS's favourite web browser - Mozilla Firefox - is due to come available for download in the early hours of Wednesday morning (for those on GMT) or during Tuesday afternoon for those on US Pacific Time.

It's expected that V2 will be a renamed version of last week's Release Candidate 3, so if you're using that, there's no need to rush to get a download.

I find this release less stable than the one i had. Now firefox would randomly crash where as it used to never do that. It looks a bit prettier though....

Well I gave it a go but it's really not attracting me away from Opera - not that FF is bad but it's just a bit clunky by comparison. I have to say IE7 isn't half bad either (shocking)..

Firefox still my browser of choice, though IE7 isn't bad...
I get mega long waits with IE phishing protection on though!

Anyone else noticed that the promised ability to re-load the tabs that were open in the last session is either missing or VERY well hidden?

Resuming your browsing session: The Session Restore feature restores windows, tabs, text typed in forms, and in-progress downloads from the last user session. It will be activated automatically when installing an application update or extension, and users will be asked if they want to resume their previous session after a system crash.

Not sure who had it first, though, cos I can remember it ages ago in Avant Browser.

Oh, and here's how you set the option to have the last set of tabs and windows open when you start a new session.

You go to Tools>Options>Main and use the the top drop-down, as below:

I've got some of those features in extensions on 1.5...

The only reason i don't want to move yet is my lovely BlackJapan theme. I think it is not going to be developed any more

I wouldn't know one way or the other - Opera does tend to lead in innovations for the main browser but obviously lacks the extentions of Firefox. Avant I never liked as it's just a frontend for IE (another layer of stuff to go wrong). Opera certainly had 'continue from last session' back in version 6 (if not earlier) in 2003.
