Sour grapes from Sony over Xbox 360 digital downloads

In the latest 'he says, she says' war of words between the two giants of the gaming industry, Sony have took the opportunity to take a dig at Microsoft's new download service.

Now that's funny - coming from the company peddling THE most expensive console going. From what I hear, they were so late with API's to developers already one PS3 game isn't even using the Sony Online service.

I can see how shocking it must be for them to have their chief console rival not help them out in launching their overpriced and seriously overdue console. It's not as tho Sony would do exactly the same thing now is it?

Sony took the opportunity to have a dig at Microsoft's new service by saying, "PlayStation 3's content is designed for everyone to enjoy right out of the box, no matter which configuration you purchase. We would never shut anyone out of the entertainment experience because they didn't have the money to buy the top of the line system..."

...but isn't the bottom of the line ps3 still more expensive than the top of the line 360?

Yeah we all know Sony's console is more expensive but I think they are employing the "If I say it enough times people will believe me" defence. And it will probably work.

Actually, Gear of War shipped today - November 7. It is expected to be in all stores on November 12, which is Emergence Day. You might try getting your facts straight?

Why can't Sony and Microsoft settle this in a manly fashion such as a nice boxing bout between their 2 top game designers/programmers.

That would be more interesting that this bitching that's going on about each other's consoles.

"Please wait and see what the pS3 will offer. We believe in our console and we think it will be the best"

I quite agree - it all smacks of Sony realising that the PS3 isn't (in reality) any better than a 360 after all. They're neck and neck and so the games (and services) will be the decider (if you ignore the Sony sheep factor(SSF)).

I agree it all looks like negative campaigning which I have never liked.

You either stand on your own two feet or not at all. I suppose this is why I have never bought a Mac, their uses are always slagging off the competition (though that is hardly the companies fault!).
