I loved these books. 99% sure I'll buy at least one of the games no matter how good/bad the reviews - just on the strength of the brand (and the good memories). I vaguely recall a cpl of 'clone' variants of FF as well - there was one about being a ninja iirc (very compelling when you are 10yrs old)
I had Deathtrap Dungeon on the PS1, it was pretty pants though.
I remember getting some dodgy text adventure creator bit of software for the spectrum at some point and did exactly the same thing.
I then followed it up with a dodgy self penned thing set in my school - which if I'd tried to distribute, I probably would have been sued for slander...
As far as the books go though I loved them.
I also used to spend a bit of time with the lone wolf ones as well when I was younger, but I think that was a bit later.
I had warlock on the spectrum (came with the book) I think the cassette is still up in the attic somewhere. Can't really remember much about the game (I think I was around 3 maybe 4 years old at the time) except for the long load times that came with cassettes, and that it wouldn't load if you didn't have the volume set just right (or at it least it sometimes felt like that).

LOL I rewrote deathtrap dungeon as ceefax pages during our schools version of computer science
Yes - that was quite fun to work with... specially the mode 7 graphics...
A slight aside but for some reason I was daydreaming about Twin Kingdom Valley the other day.. I never had the patience to complete it on my old 64 but I really used to enjoy it!
I remember owning the Steve Jackson (alone) later ones like The Shamutanti Hills and Khare Cityport of Traps but I never 'played' them, just looked at the pictures and read them!
ah memories ive got a load on my shelf still, and listening to the names and stuff brings it all back....
Anyway how are they going to work are they going to be interactive books click for each option and read some txt and a picture or somekind of simple RPG game with cut scenes and monsters to fight??
Permanently confused
Hi there
I'm a new member so apologies for re-animating this dead topic, but just thought that FF fans might be interested in a project I did some years back trying to teach my little bro* how to program so he could convert his ff adventure books into text adventures for the PC.
*little at the time, he's now 18st
The result - "The Warlock of Firetop Mountain" as an interactive MS Access database
Will post a screenshot when I've made 4 more posts (until then no url postings allowed apparently.
Regards
Joe.
P.S. Who needs a little book when you can carry around a huge laptop with you instead eh?
Well, if copies are being handed out....
