It's actually a tag from the original half life and I dont think the SS were the first people to use a skull as symbolism.

well that particular form of skull (with the ligtheningesque crack in it) was pretty much exclusive to the SS. Anyway the Swastika was originally a Nazi symbol but I wouldnae have it as an avatar.

I just showed you the SS skull, it has no crack. neither the collar pin, not the shoulder badge from the SS uniform shows a crack. It is also turned to the side, has a different orientation of the crossed bones, and has a closed mouth, your comparison is tenuous at best.

And like the skull, the swastika existed in symbolism long before Nazi Germany.

Swastika (from Sanskrit स्वस्तिक svastika, from su "well", and asti "being", thus "good fortune" or "well-being")

The swastika is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Odinism

that's one version of it, there are numerous ones with the crack.

anyway i wasn't calling you a nazi and i did say it had moved into mainstream use.

also i clearly meant to say the swastika wasn't originally a nazi symbol.

really should check my posts for typos.

You said the Skull IS the SS Skull. I'm just defending the fact it isn't and is in no way related. In 7 years of using it and versions of it as an avatar, you're the first to draw the comparison. Before today I'd never seen an SS badge that resembles it, though it seems there is one with a large central crack.

It is was used by SS concentration camp guards, the "SS-Totenkopfverbände".

Either way, I suspect you decided to attack my avatar and by virtue of it, compare me to or insinuate I am Nazi sympathizer, purely because you had no answer you my original argument about the use of gender in advertising.

also shouldn't we be aiming to make technology less male orientated?

As i mentioned many mainstream gaming expo's have banned booth babes as they are wary of alienating the growing female gamer demagraphic.

    I will second that !
