I remember Alien Syndrome on the Commodore 64 and Amiga many moons ago. It was a really good top down shooter. Team 17 done one very similar also on the Amiga called Alien Breed which had objectives to complete on each level of the ship instead of just rescue the captives and a boss after rescuing everyone on a given level.

Hopefully this incarnation / ressurection will live up to its 8 and 16 bit counterparts.

For some reason I was thinking Alien Syndicate was the sideways scroller on the Mega Drive (think Final Fight with guns) as opposed to the overhead run and gun Alien Breed style game.
