Handbags at dawn!!
"we sold lots of playstation 2. that CLEARLY means we have the best development tools and online services."
Complacent? Arrogant? Sony? NO SURELY NOT :)
"The Playstation brand is very strong" (not from this one)
Wow your console MUST be amazing then
lol you might want to tell that to the people having to code for the PS3
entirely new language, devkit issues you wouldnt imagine, not to mention the fact that ALL the optimisation has to be done when the program is compiled, not when it is run (unlike pretty much all other current gen consoles)
oh and the dev ones are about the size of a smallish server and have to be BOLTED to the ground with special legs so it cant fall and break your foot.....
mind you I have no idea what the 360 ones are like
as for ps2 sales.....isnt a fair few of those down to its ability to be chipped? like how the PSone did so well in terms of units sold
didnt read the article. but from the comments it sounds like there just living on past glories... oh dear, how the Roman empire fell
a 360 dev kit is an extra-tall black 360 (i.e. a big thing about 2 inches tall where the hard disk would usually go). the dev tools are the usual visual studio gubbins people (including whiners like carmack) like to work on
and chipped console sales are statistical noise
God I love goolge fight :D
That's rich, coming from a company that has no problem rewriting history.Quote:
Karraker then went on to suggest that Microsoft have massaged their sales figures of 10.4 million
Sony has managed to drive its credibility lower than MS's over the past year, an impressive feat.
lol sony should not have responded at all has their response made them look less like winners.
*yawn* Its all starting to look like the Mac/PC argument which has been going on strong for a number of years.
Just slating the other products does not win you market share. The best PR is just lay out your product in simple terms and then answer the questions directly relating to the product.
I work in an experiment environment for a large company and we have now begun to see similar environments set up by other companys, we catergorically not allowed to be negative about the competition. It makes you look unprofessional and unwilling to be open minded, which says alot about your actual work.
Look at Nintendo, they are hardly involved in this at all, they just keep saying things along the lines of "Look ours is different" and "Ok so its not the fastest but you don't have to be".
I can't understand what it is about the console market which makes these two like this, I mean look at other markets, Sony aren't this childish in the TV sector and neither is Microsoft in office software market (bullish though they are!).
Time to grow up and let your product speak for itself.
its not a very positive comeback and doesnt address any of the points MS made
I believe Sony has lost every right to comment in the way have, they should release their console over here first before they're allowed to make such comments.
I for one dislike the Xbox 360 and the PS3, but the recent backbiting is VERY unprofessional and as I've stated before, Sony well and truly has its work cut out.
The Xbox 360 has already been out for a year and a bit so they have a full library of games out and the console may have also fallen in price.
I can't believe that, it's all a bit childish... why don't they let us know about up and coming games etc. and make useful press releases.
After all 'actions speak louder than words'. They shouldn't have to keep trying to 'out do' the other as their products should speak for themselves.
;)
