Creative ALchemy - DirectSound 3D is now possible in Vista!

Creative has today announced ALchemy, a brand new small application that enables the surround sound features of all your older games in Vista. Whilst some say there is only support for Creative branded cards in this release it has been noted already that it does infact work with other sound systems that have OpenAL support.

Where is this 'Submit item to' server? I've not heard of it before

Horray for OpenAL. *wonders if this will work in XP as well, for those that prefer openAL to direct sound..*

Nah it'll just be reduced to the level of a live! card or whatever level of card that's OpenAL compatible

That said, I just got what I think are my first ever BSOD's with my computer - cause: ha10x2k.sys, aka a creative driver... grrr

Thats weird i had that exact same BSOD for the first time last night to, caused by ha10x2k.sys.

You should fully wipe and reinstall creative drivers then. When installed check that the driver files are all of the same date..

..but even then I don't have high hopes for stability. I might try some older drivers (current are 'october 06', files dated 11th August I think).
