    Indeed, and Intel only have to look at the royal screwup that was Prescott as an example of how not to execute a die-shrink.

    ...and that is probably where Intel's new-found competitiveness has come from. The Netburst failure has cost them money as well as pride, and a number of staffers paid for it as a result. One presumes the folk with responsibility for the Core line will be looking at that and now know that getting complacent or sloppy, or allowing marketing requirements to override design - as happened with Netburst - is not the way for a technology company to work.

    This may be of interest the size of fab process to be used next is chosen by the magic 0.7 number, all things been equal it will product a chip ~half the area of last generation process.

    Ifyou wait for Penryn, you'll be just about to buy, then something else will be announced, you'll wait for that, and it goes on and on and on and on....

    I know, I know I was gonna get a E6600 I might get an E4300 and an OEM vista instead. Seeing as I've re-used my OEM XP license on far too many machines now

    I have a much simpler strategy for upgrades.

    "Right, I need to upgrade. What's good now? K, I'll get that then..."
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
