Review :: iiyama PLX486S-B1S 19” High Contrast LCD

To be honest, for a sub-£200 panel, there’s a feature set you’d expect to find on far more expensive screens. I mean, my more expensive (when I bought them) Hyundais are just basic monitors, how am I supposed to feel happy looking at this PLX486S-B1S when I have the utterly featureless Hyundais sitting next to it? Sometimes I love my job. Today, I hate it... and it’s all iiyama’s fault...

    It's a shame it's so ugly!

It has to be one of the worst looking LCDs I've ever seen. I like iiyama stuff (had some of their CRTs), but this I don't. The only thing that could make it worse is if it was horrible 'PC' beige.

That and no mention of HDCP makes it a no go for me sadly. I'll have to keep staring at pics of the BenQ FP241W and hope that one day......

Am I being stupid or is a 2ms response time completely pointless? Since the screen is set to 60Hz, anything lower than 16ms response time should surely make no difference at all.

I COULD SHAVE IN THIS SCREEN. It's like a mirror, and about as much use in FEAR as a botton bud is as a weapon in Quake4.

Iiyama make some stunning monitors, but why shiny? It's like having my Dad's bald head in front of me at a cinema...irritiating.

The new batch of laptops came with the shiny screen when I was still working down in London in Jan... They were awful, colour and picture were fine but then you bring back the problems on CRT days with glare (and lots of it!) when we contacted HP asking why they came with the shiny monitors the guy told us thats its the new thing in the states.

We had to pay extra to get the matt screens back
