    Soltek EQ3702M mini barebones

A decent SFF barebones outfit should question the need for larger desktop or midi-tower boxes, especially for the non-power user. The Soltek does exactly that. Overall, however, the Soltek EQ3702 mini barebones PC covers most of its intended bases well. It's fast, stable, quiet, feature-rich in just the right areas and, subjectively speaking, looks cool. A genuine contender in the popular SFF market.

To be completely honest, I prefer the Shuttle based system. The only thing that the Soltek system benifits tbh is the 2nd drive bay, which kind of goes against the point of SFF Computers - Small Form Factor - the second drive bay is moving it away from the Small side.

I don't like the Silver/Chrome front.... yuck, way to tacky. The SN41G2 style is far nicer, even though it has all the buttons and posts etc. Just my 2p.

www.cclcomputers.biz have it in stock I think.
Personally I'm not a big fan of the Shuttle system in terms of style. if you dislike the mirror finish and black sides Soltek do an EQ3702A which uses brushed alumimum all over:

Just got the Soltek 3702, they seemed to have fixed a number of things. The internal cabling and additional cabling is much better. 200fsb is now supported.

I have one question, whats the main generator of noise? and would it be safe to but a zalman fan mate on that fan?

main noise in MY case is the case fan speed being too high The specialy designed air extractor thingy.

In BIOS their are options for both CPU fan speed AND Case fan speed...but you gotta make sure you got them plugged into the right mobo connectors for it to work cos the third fan header doesn't have speed control

Then....I tried underclocking (to prevent cooking my cpu) and the experimented with both sets of speeds to see which was noiser.

The case fan was noisy at full, but very quiet at half way.

CPU fan was fairly quiet on both......

then back up to overlclocked potential (1700 XP at 2400) and rock solid with case on mid and cpu on fast.

The heatsink in mine is very very good indeed.

Well pleased (after Agent saved my BIOS chip, cos I cocked it up, it lost BIOS totally...he hot flashed it with the latest and its so nice now )
