    IDF - Chipsets, Digital Home and LCOS

    In 2004 Grantsdale offers several feature sets which are targeted at the digital home. Following is just a sampling of the upcoming technologies. PCI – Express 16X. The next generation of Integrated graphics will offer dual independent displays – so it can be watched on different displays – TV and TFT for example.

    I think I understand about the new screen types.....you did well just getting my brain around it matey

    SO Intel has some major SOFTware stuff to go with its HARDware stuff....the future is a one-stop-shop then, in their eyes? Forget Microsloth and the others......Intel will provide it all for ya...intergated?

    Mac anyone? Hey...teasing....if it WORKS then more power to them?

    Intel developed the new 'cell' or 'crystal' which the light bounces off at the back of the unit. Sorry it is 4am at the moment I know the word I am looking for but can't find it

    It is not the physical display it is the source at the rear of the panel - which the light bounces off and is projected on to the front of the screen

    Right... I think I understand now. So using this it can display more pixels so better displays, right? That's good ya? What about the response time, are they working to increase that too?

    As yet - not known I will try and find out today.

    The advantage is the pixel density (720P and 1080P) and also the cost - since it is made in Silicon not by other means Intel can do scale of economny.

    The drive function is shown on the page - if you look at the viewfoils it should all tie in now.

    $1600 for a 50" display? That would be pretty good!

    So about £1600 if they come out over here then, eh?

    Is that not the same as the transreflective displays some manufacturers having been using on new phones and pda's - Use the reflected light to amplify the lcd brightness making it more visible in brighter conditions, and also cut down on the power needed from the traditional backlights?
