Ahh well, you could always mod the 1200 with a hole for the PSU or get an extension connector.

Re: Reviews - 3.5GHz Core 2 Quad and Radeon 4870 X2: the Chillblast way

Thanks for the reply Ben - and for taking the comments as they were intended. I still contend I don't like routing cables over the front of the motherboard (I really don't like the 12V cpu line in particular) - it makes it hard to work on (removing cables to remove cards etc) and I suppose there's airflow/asthetics. I haven't actually tried closing the side panel yet - so you may well be right than closure was an issue (with that psu). Filling the drive bays (and therefor the air intakes) with loose cable isn't ideal either. Antec obviously designed the case with the holes in response to the smaller model's lack of cable management - it's just nice to use it as intended. I think it's reasonable to critise Antec for not providing extenders though.

I can't say i know for sure whether the rubber standoffs for the PSU are not tall enough (I haven't measured but 4mm sounds shorter than expected) - but it's interesting to learn the psu can be mounted both ways up (but as moogle says this doesn't preclude using the cable tidying holes either). If cables are too short there's always extenders, or just choosing a psu with longer cabling in the first place. I think it's reasonable to critise Antec for not providing extenders though.

Interesting you say on the one hand the cables won't move but then claim they did in transit!

Anyway, my tuppence - for what it's worth - and I acknowledge that this sort of things quite subjective.

We would definintely have used extenders if we had any at the time and will look into sourcing some in quantity for future builds; it's obviously always nice to have as little cable work on show as possible . There is some slack on the PCI-express cables where they are tethered to the main loom (which is quite rigid), so these would have slid up and down as the card moved .

    Cheers,

    Ben

I'm really surprised at the reaction to the cabling. Looks pretty goddamn neat to me. But then, I don't have that special kind of cabling-neatness autism that some have.... Lol.... Wish I had a pic of the inside of my case...

Y'know we all caught it from staffsMike
I didn't give a damn where my cables went before. You could hardly see the motherboard with all the wires stuffed inside. I think there's such a big reaction to the cabling because the Antec 1200 provides you with all the mobo holes you could need for your cabling but they weren't being utilized fully.

It's a tough audience in here, Ben!

Extreme cable tidying.. Don't try this at home kids.

There's actually very little stress on the cables due to the way I have done that, but I've put it back to normal now lol

Good to see you addressing those points though Ben. I do feel a bit responsible.. but it needed to be said
