Very nice review, I was thinking you guys were psychic until I saw the two similiar GTX260 cards using different drivers. I wanted to see if there really is any major difference between cards with the same speeds just from different manufacturers. Any chance you could do that too Tarinder?
Also the temps on the 4870 are just crazy, you missed out the power consumption there so I can't really tell if the 4870's temps are wasting energy or if it's not that bad.
But really would like to see the comparison of my first point (two similiar cards different manufacturers).
links are broken on bothHowever, after visiting the site, the support page is a little light - we couldn't find a telephone number to call for support, and good old email seems to be the only way to touch base.
Nice review. Have to say, would be nice to see more games there. I like the choice there is atm, but a couple of the more recent ones like FarCry 2, Crysis:Warhead, Fallout 3 etc. Just to get a better range, and more people play these games
None the less, extrememly nice review and nice to see some different games like company of heroes etc up
Also, where did you get the prices from? I've looked on scan and can't find the Palit GTX 260
Definately getting a GTX now thanks for that hexus its closed any doubts in my mind
Thing about includiing cryssis wars, whilst the engine did go some important maintenence from the original its still quite an unpredictable game and doesnt really give fair results for the tests. I would liek to see farcry and fallout though as they are games il be checking aout after upgrade time.
Ah yes, for some reason I didn't read the last page :S Thanks.
I would easily go with Nvidia at the moment. Much better drivers, and optimisation. (In my opinion).
Yup, I've got a big mug of coffee, a few decent graphics cards, and a bunch of new games.

Suite will be changed again before the year is out.
It's not so much as switching to NVIDIA-sponsored titles. Rather, many of the top games happen to be sponsored by NVIDIA's TWIMTBP program

and what about comparison of different cards, ie an Inno3D one vs a BFG one (preferred at the same speeds). I'd really like to see if there is a difference. Unless it's been pointed out somewhere. You had the right setup you just used the different drivers on the GTX's.

Nice Thanks - looking forward to the updated benches
be interesting to see if Cat 8.12 makes any/much difference to the ATi performance.
the 4870x2 card tops even the GTX 280 from a benchmarking+review I read via google.
Also, nvidias TWIMTBP scheme and the smarmy ads/logo trailers on games make me NOT want to buy from them, it reeks of trying to establish a monopoly, and it's disappointing that games developers pander to it instead of being straight with customers and supporting graphics cards equally. In a monopoly we're the ones that lose out as quality falls and prices are ramped up due to not having to worry about any competing any more - another example is while Apple are just Microsoft with a white colour scheme (just look at how they've been regarding open source on iPhone/iPods, it's MSvsLinux all over again, and Apple have a big crush on DRM too), it's good that it's there because it keeps the industry on it's toes.

Yeah it does... but thats not whats been talked about
Whilst i agree and have ranted about it many times myself... what ya gunna do.
At the same time i guess its slightly more cost effective for game developers to build the game around a certain chipset and then add support for other ones around it but i dont know how it all works.
where on earth do u get mindset this from?
