    Voodoo PC Envy m:855 laptop

The Voodoo PC Envy m:855 has shown us an impressive array of power in laptop form. Impressive enough for us to re-think the real use of a cumbersome desktop system. Our lack of recommendation stems from the steep price and nothing much else. If laptops continue to improve at the current rate, we might all be lugging around mini-monsters in the near future.

Almost identical to my laptop, must be from the same manufacturer. Only difference is not having a built in wifi adapter although I have the button for it on the front of the laptop. Also the weight quoted is .325 of a kilo heavier than mine.

Nice to see what kind of results it gets in tests though as it's not something I do much any more. It runs all the games I need without any problems so haven'tbothered benchmarking it.

Good review though, just wish mine looked as pretty, it's a nice silver imac style shell instead but the red does look good

No the Evesham version identical to both the voodo and time in almost every respect though. I went for the 3Ghz model with 1gig of ram, 60gig HDD and DVD-RW but it was under £1500

Also I think I may have spotted a minor error

"The PCMCIA slot's blank cover has been left in that horrible shade of beige. We'd have hoped that Voodoo PC would have given it the matching paint treatment. There's also a removable 2x DVD-R drive, 2x USB 2.0 and 2x FireWire ports on the right-hand side. "

Is it me or are those "firewire" ports actually a modem and network socket? On my laptop which seems to be identical they are and i can just amke out the network and modem symbols.

If you look at this picture the firewire port is quite different

    Whoops

Corrected. I have seen so many laptops, ports and sockets in the last month that I'm now a gibbering wreck. I don't think I could work on MESH's production line.
