You wanted 4850 performance at 4670 power draw? Want the moon on a stick, as well? ;) They've cut the power draw by about 25% - that's pretty damn impressive...

Think i might treat myself at this price,is there any decent reviews of this card with regard to temps,noise and power usage.

Would love to see some benchies of 2 of these in Xfire against a 4890/Nvidia 280. Bet it stacks up quite well. does it just need 1 6pin power lead? I suppose 2 of these wouldn't use up much more power than a single 4870?!

According to the various Hexus tables of doom, the 4870 has a published TDP of 160W, while the 4770 has 80W. So two 4770s *should* theoretically have the same maximum power draw as one 4870, with performance somewhere around that of the 4850 X2. 4770 X2 for < £200 anyone?

Yes I do:p according to theTechpowerup review the HD4770 used more power at idle than the HD4380, HD4850, GTX2xx etc

As a causal gamer 90% of the time my graphic card is idly eating watts.

I think that ATI missing an opportunity to woo gamers and HTPC users.

Thanks for the link does make intresting reading,im torn between the 4830 and the 4770 but might opt for a 4830 now????

Yet according to Hexus idle power draw is less than both the 4850 and 9800GT...

Given the variance between reviews and the unexpectedly poor performance it sounds to me like the card isn't throttling back correctly - should be fixable by a driver update. I believe there are also programs you can get that allow you to set your own performance profiles which would help in the mean time. After all, fully loaded it only draws 11W more than a 4670 so it obviously is very power-frugal... it's just not optimally configured for idling...

There's a crossfire review out there, and it shows this setup in a very good light, but it doesn't cover any games that are particularly demanding to begin with - a single 4770 gives great framerates in all the tests they did anyway.

Damn, i thought this was a few weeks away and wound up purchasing a 4850 from these forums last week. Not a biggy on the performance front, but the 4770 certainly would have been better for an mITX system. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come and they release something similar on the 5*** series, might make a good upgrade :)
