I've got one of these and I have to agree, it's great!
The only minor problem I found was that the two small circular studs, that hook around the oppposite side of the door frame to which you stand, can make small indentations in your plaster (but I blame that mostly on our landlords crappy workmanship )

Re: Reviews - Powerbar: the ultimate home chin-up workout?

so it works in any doorway? i may get it then as £30 is cheap for this, im gettin bored of rowing and weight lifting so its kinda different. Just to make sure, it doesnt really hang onto the doorframe? more onto the wall so it doesnt snapped it right? cos doorframs are not strong .

    Good article.

Re: Reviews - Powerbar: the ultimate home chin-up workout?

Yep, if you look at the top pic on this page:

    http://lifestyle.hexus.net/content/i...m=15267&page=3

You hold on to the top bar and your weight is distributed onto the bottom bar (pushing it into the door frame) and onto the two hooks on the other side of the door that then push against the wall above the door frame.
The only improvement I'd make would be to make the ends of those two hooks bigger so that they don't poke little dents in the wall

Re: Reviews - Powerbar: the ultimate home chin-up workout?

I've had one of these for over a year and agree that it is a very conveneient piece of kit - (got my brothers one each too) - but a couple of points to note.

The comment about the little stops marking plaster - spot on, I actually burst the plaster doing a max rep set of knees to chin. I fixed it and then stuck a couple of bits of 1/4" ply under where the stops rest. Also, if I was designing a Powerbar V2.0 I'd make the bar at least another 1/2" thicker, upto 1 1/2" diameter if possible. The reason being that if you do any "grease the groove" type training using the Powerbar, your hands will be the biggest complainers. I do a good bit of Kettlebell training too and blisters take all the fun out of high rep snatches :-)

Sorry to come quite late to the party, on this thread. I was looking for reviews on The Google, and Hexus came up.

Just like to thank the reviewer for their piece. (Talking of which: )
