Resident Evil meets Alone In the Dark in Remedy's Stephen King inspired horror adventure.
I have been waiting for this game for a while but am a bit confussed. I thought this was a 360 only game(?) but the article has Platforms listed as PC and Xbox360 and Shopto have PC and Xbox360 copies listed for pre-order but a link at the end of the article has the news item that it was going to be 360 only?
I never saw anything that said they changed their minds, can anyone shed any light on this?
Cheers
Xbox 360 exclusive.
I got this delivered earlier, had a little play. Seems pretty good so far, very atmospheric. I was very impressed with the package of the collectors edition. Pretty cool.
So much for the 90% + reviews the devs kept saying they were after :P After all the years of hype it turns out to be a very average game.
It's got a Metacritic score of 84 at the moment. Which is very good and way above average.
Then again some people think 7/10 is average, I used to think that 5/10 was average. I've played loads of 7/10 games that are very good and very enjoyable indeed.
MW2 also got a very high meatcritic score but how come the majority of us diddnt like that game? ratings dont mean squat.
If you love linear bog standard games with flashy graphics then you will love alan wake.
When you say majority of us did not enjoy MW2, who are you talking about? The majority of the nearly 20m copies it's sold? I am still enjoying it most days, 6 months after it game out, so I think it deserves it's high meta rating. The only bad thing it has going for it, if you don't count no dedicated servers, is that the campaign is to short.
Alan Wake is very linear but the sheer amount of atmosphere and decent action take your mind off the lack of options in the sense free roaming. I would not say that it has particularly flashy graphics either. I guess you need a certain level of imagination to get on with the game. Give it a try when it you can pick it up cheaper and don't rely on reviews, as you said, ratings mean squat.
