Good review. Shame they haven't changed that much, but it still looks very classy.
Slight editing typo in that you've repeated the phrase about the 5870 on page two.
The geekbench score is also hard to read on page three - the x-axis labels are overlapping.Originally Posted by hexus
Kalniel,
Thanks. The two pictures show the Radeon HD 5850 first and then the Radeon HD 5870 second. This is why we make mention of the HD 5850 in the first line of the paragraph and the HD 5870 in the second. As you will no doubt know, the latter card is longer.
We're working on a newer graphing system that will eradicate the overlapping.

They don't call them toaster ovens for nothing. The Radeon HD 5800 cards would run cool if they had adequate ventilation around the fan. They use DHES to exhaust the hotter air outside of the case.
The pricing has always been the turn off for me with Shuttle XPC cases. I can usually get a very high end motherboard, PSU and amazing ATX mid-tower for the same price. There was just never any incentive and I place my tower underneath my desk anyway.
The only changes are those to reduce production costs! The SX58H7 costs around £450 and has been this price for a while. Many long term Shuttle users(like me for example) and have been put off by this so called "new" Shuttle.
The case is actually made of steel and is almost twice the weight of the older SX58H7.
This is the previous high end SFF system, the SX58H7:

Inspired by this article i got an sx58js and put this in the box:
Shuttle SX58J3 XPC Barebone Personal Computer
EVGA GeForce GTX 460 Super Clocked 768MB
Intel Core i7-930 Quad Core Processor
80GB Intel X25-M Mainstream 2.5" SSD
6GB Corsair XMS3 1333MHz DDR3 Triple Channel Memory Kit
When the pc repeatedly crashed I was told that there are not enough watts to support that set-up. By my reckoning this would effect the j3-5800 model too if you upgrade to the gtx480 card as suggested. Am i missing something or do I just need to get a 480 card instead of the 460?
Do you happen to have the latency timings you (hexus) achieved with the dominator in the sx58j3?
on 1333 it was able to achieve 9-9-9-24 but on OC1600 only 11-11-11-29 I wonder if it's because of the heat issue or bios?
I have a similar system:
SX58j3
I7 950
Corsair Dominator (TR3X6G1600C8D) DDR3-1600 8-8-8-24
HIS ATI 5870
Velociraptor 300gb sata 3.0
