It's not all that heavy, weights less than many 15 laptops and is very slim to boot. Only alternative is to buy the 14 off the US website ( if your CC billing address is not in the US they will cancel your order, other alternative is to buy off powersellers on ebay.

    Hope your search goes well.

It's not so much the weight as the size of a 17" - makes it awkward on planes and small desks in hotel rooms! I'll probably end up getting a 14" Elitebook or another Latitude; my current one is more than 4 years old and looking a bit battered.

Actually, I was looking at an Envy in PCWorld only yesterday and wasn't very impressed - it felt plasticky and when compared to a MacBook Pro... well, there is no comparison IMHO. The MBP wins hands down.

No probs, its a matter of pref, but i find the envy, solid easily upgradable, brill screen and better looking than the macbook pro.

All the best in your search.

Seems like the 1600x900 screen is no longer available even in the US (whereas it was the only screen available on release). Darn, shouldn't have waited, it's a bit of a deal breaker for me.
