    harsh but fair review.

I never played the original but love the story on this one maybe thats why i'd give it a 9.

I dont think i'd ever get into the multiplayer cos it's just not got that amazingness of supreme commander

I think it was probably doomed from the start to be honest.

Trying to follow up one of the most popular games there has ever been, years down the line, you give yourself two choices.

Reproduce the original, and look out of date, or make another ground-breaking title and risk alienating your entire core support. Either way you lose.

Re: Reviews - Starcraft II - PC

I liked the research stuff a lot, allowed you to use the upgrades that best suited your gameplay style. And no mention of the non-linearity? No longer are we stuck frustrated on a mission and having nothing else to do - the choice of missions, certainly the order in which you do them, and the unit rewards again allows you to find a play style that suits you - so if for some reason you did get stuck (unlikely if you've played SC1, SC2 is much easier) you can come back to a mission later on when you've acquire more units or upgrades.

Group limits have gone. Waypointing has been added.

Otherwise mostly fair comments - try playing SC on that monitor and the units will be equally absurd

Re: Reviews - Starcraft II - PC

hehe, I'm still playing the original with my friends, of course with the 1080p mod

SC2 felt a bit of a let down to me...the graphics is nice though it hasn't been able to provide the same or similar feeling...I would give it an 8/10..

Re: Reviews - Starcraft II - PC

Harsh review IMO but i guess fair .

I hadn't played SC1 in years but eventually bought it again a couple of months before SC2 was released, was a good game to play again and did keep me entertained for the time till SC2 was out.

Once SC2 came out and it arrived at my door, i wasnt getting the same feel as SC1 however i enjoyed the campaign and it was long enough (although i want to finish the story NOW! ). The Multiplayer is where its at, i know SC1 is hard to beat but if you compare it to almost any game out now it wins as battlenet works so well. The interface is almost as polished as the xbox interface, so simple and provides so much, games are found very fast and theres always a challenge.

It took me a few weeks to get into it but really i think if you take it as a different game it beats SC1 . Another thing is that the custom games.... i think you didnt mention that these actually work out to be ingame mods, they are flipping amazing! You get things like tower defense, hero games with rpg elements, card games (like pokemon and that shiz but, a lot better) and base defense, so much to do aswell as the custom maps .

Ive never seen such a polished and well complete game (apart from sc1 and maybe D2 but these are a different age now haha). Graphics, ok they arent the best but as you said they are above average (well above IMO), the graphics are better than dow2 if you zoom in and stuff so for an rts its damn solid.

    9/10 for me so far

Interesting review, most of what you have said reflects how I felt about the game myself.

Some reading it probably believe it's too harsh but the reality is there.

Re: Reviews - Starcraft II - PC

I mean, I definitely love the game but I will have to admit, when it was released I was let down, because I had expected a lot more. I expected AT LEAST a whole new race... or a lot more new units and structures... It felt like SC2 was more of a cosmetic lift from SC1. Although I still love it, I just wish they added more new units and buildings to change the game a bit more.
