    USB-PenDrive.co.uk 32MB USB Bar

The 32MB Bar isn't going back, unless they send me a 256MB version, perfect for all the extra things I'd like a bootable USB key to do.

I have one of these - posted a review of it on another site, which I shall not link to (though there's a link to it on stevekerrison.com - which is currently having it's A records updated so may be down, lol.)

Anyway, I didn't give it 10/10 because I found the software had a few flaws and the paintwork was a bit weak. Still I guess some of it is down to opinion.

Regardless of this - it's a nice drive and I wouldn't be without it.

Got a 512MB pendrive for all the utils I use at work, brilliant little things, sure as hell beats a CD!

Branding them seems like a useful thing though.

I dont see whats so special about these (apart from the customization bit) compared to other offerings that are on the market, that a lot more established, and cheaper.

Lets take for example the prices of the 256MB pen drive.

    usb-pendrive.co.uk - 256MB USB 2 = £60.73 inc P&P
    Lexars 256MB USB 2 from ebuyer = £46.40 inc P&P

    and for 512MB

    usb-pendrive.co.uk - 512MB USB 2 = £111.25 inc P&P
    PQI's Traveling Disk - 512MB USB from ebuyer = £86.23

While i can see a potential market for the customization of the 32meg variants for handing out at presentations and such, is the additional cost really worth that much for the customization on the additional units, which will probably not be given away ?

What company actually makes the USB drives for usb-pendrive.co.uk ? As presumably they are just buying them in, slapping a personalized logo on them for you, and reselling them. I like to know that my data is safe !

I'm wondering how many of the other variants on this theme support being bootable devices?

Quite a few, even though they are not advertised as such.
Most (ive not had one that isnt) of the brand names are all bootable, ive not really had any no name ones to test with.

With over 28MB left after that little lot, there's still plenty of room for St. Petersburg Linux, a tiny Linux distribution in ~12MB that supplies a web browser (Mozilla), network stack and other utilities for a complete modern OS in under 15MB of disk space.
sorry to bump this old thread.. but having just aquired a 32mb usb stick off my dad i was thinking of doing something like putting linux on it.. but i cant find anything on the net about the 'st petersburg linux' thingy? any more details?

    cheers
