That is some sweet overclocking. Presumably they've got the most flexibility to counter keplar without having the chip be faster than it needs to be - the retail partners must be loving AMD at the moment.
Very impressive kudos to amd, hopefully kepler is competetive and we have a decent top end race on
cheers
brasc
prices are out - ouck coming in at around £350 , scan at £370 ebuyer not listing yet
We've quoted a basic price of £350, no? It's available for that much right now.
aye Tarinder -seem most are hovering around £350 ebuyer are listing now.
and aggreed - needs to drop a bit , coming in at the same money as the GTX 580 is all well and good - but AMD should steal the march and drop prices by 10% straight off
nice
so basically it beats the 580 in everything bar bf3, overclocks a ton more and at stock has 2/3 the power draw! Yeah, easy decision if you had to pick 580 or this .
curious though, didnt the 7970 overclock to similar speeds? So i guess the 7970 will always be ~15% faster if like for like but taking into account that its £100 cheaper... makes it a nice thing to know!
Now for me to wait for kepler so i can finally make my choice . Any chance of you guys running a benchmark for bf3 with those massive overclocks along with system draw to see how much it shoots up by?.

Yep - 28nm are really showing their worth, we've got 580 beating performance for far less power draw.
It seems with some games the newer drivers produce a nice performance boost:

You can flash a 7970 bios to these according to ocuk forums which gives a noticable performance increase!
It looks like the finalised drivers for thr HD7900 series will be released in March:
