Battery life is depressing for a portable, but I want one!

Re: Previews - My first few hours with the PlayStation Vita

I've been contemplating trading the 3Ds in for one of these but then i realised there would be no point:

My interpretation of the PSV is that, come Christmas, you will be able to play CoD 6/7 on the go with similar visual to a PS3. The PSV is meant to be a portable PS3 - if you're going to sit near a WiFi connection to play online you may as well do it with a proper controller.

I also wish someone would cover what gameplay is over 3G as for me, thats one of its major draws yet they are charging an arm for the privilege.

The start screen is bloody awful as well. Why they couldn't stick to the slick XMB, modified for touch, is beyond me. Instead its some Otaku infused abortion that even Ninty wouldn't run.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Less than 3 hours battery life, its not really a portable device if you can't use it more than 3 hours at a time on a charge. Seems pointless

All my smartphones last a hell of a lot longer than 3 hours even under load! Does the SII not last longer than 3 hours?? I understand that the vita has a lot of oomph, so battery drain is always a worse problem, although it seems like an inbetween, I think the next gen after this will find that sweetspot for a mobile gaming device, with looks and usage time.

Re: Previews - My first few hours with the PlayStation Vita

The battery life for me personally, wouldn't be an issue. I can't see myself playing for more than 2 hours at a time...maybe a long car journey...and I would most likely take this thing away with me, for example work trips. Always power in a hotel room.

Fair enough, your entitled to that, I don't 3D game only, I mainly watch video and play games. Still 3hours for a dedicated portable games device is pretty low, you can't deny that.

how is the mem card situation not in the negative ?
it's an absolute disgrace what they are charging..they put it down to wanting to keep control over quality of the cards but it's one of the biggest markups i've ever seen

    No. Brewster didn't.

Nobody compared the Vita do a smartphone, that would be silly. The Vita's 3 hours are when the device is used. For playing games. My SII - any smartphone - is on my desk or in my pocket. Even tho I'm not actually manipulating the device, the battery is powering it too take calls, play ringtone, remind me of meeting etc. My phone (and any phone!) does this a hell of a lot longer than 3 hours on a single charge.
