Be interesting to see how much it loses out in the x86 benchmarks, and how much of that is offset by power savings.

EDIT: just to add: Holy Cow! I just realised that 2133MHz RAM + GPU overclock == 20% better graphics performance in 3D Mark Vantage
We need a review of that too!

Re: Reviews - AMD A10-5800K Trinity APU

This chip is screaming out for some samsung green overclocked to 2400, which is nice and (relatively) cheap too. That's what I'm gonna use when I get one of these.

All reviews seem to be holding the apu back with 1600 ram cause that's all that's worth getting for an intel cpu...

These chips aren't about raw cpu performance that most people don't need, it's about good enough graphics and cpu power at an affordable price, and the better the graphics the more this chip makes more sense than the i3's. I have been debating between an i3 with the hd4000 and the 5800K for an 'all-rounder' small form factor pc for my living room, the 5800k is easily the more attractive option for that.

Definitely worth considering for my next budget build. Cheers!

Re: Reviews - AMD A10-5800K Trinity APU

A nice marriage of a ~£70 CPU and a ~£70 GPU into a compact, discounted £100 APU. But not so good if you require more performance than a £70 CPU would give you. And most people will think they need more even if they don't.

It would have been nice to see some low-end crossfire benchmarks, with the trinity GPU and a discrete GPU working together.

The A10-5700 has a lower 65W TDP and Ebuyer has it for around £90.

AMD need more bandwidth on their APUs as soon as they can. Presumably via a silicon interposer and very-wide memory bus to a fast, on-package memory.

What's the deal with load power consumption? Legit review show it beating the 3870? It's a reverse of the results?

Probably depends on what load you choose - it seems to vary massively from review to review. Legit used Prime95, which seems to put an unusually heavy load on Llano - I'd take that 150W Llano load with a pinch of salt, personally.

It does depend on the load chosen - Anandtech also had it come under the Llano in load draw.

Re: Reviews - AMD A10-5800K Trinity APU

Aria has a few at good looking prices. I emailed scan but still waiting on them getting some in. The free shipping sure comes in handy there!

Target (distributor) just got some in, the same chips as we're seeing elsewhere.

    A10-5800K
    A8-5600K
    A6-5400K
    A4-5300

Looks like the 5700 and 5500 might be in short supply.

Scan now has the 5800K and 5600K in stock - good prices if you get free shipping through Hexus. Has anyone seen a mini-itx board for sale yet?

Scan now has all chips in stock.

    Thanks Hexus, another great review.

I love the way you use AMD's press pack graphics and cheekily 'fess up to it, saying, "Unashamedly taken from the AMD press deck..." Some sites (*cough* - Semiaccurate) would have plonked their fugly watermark all over it, with no attribution!

Hexus, thank you very much! I've waited a long time for this review and it's provided me with all the information (well almost all, I'm just about to read the other articles) and it seems my Samsung Green RAM will get some action!

Re: Reviews - AMD A10-5800K Trinity APU

If you are web surfer and casual gamer than AMD Trinity is what you need. On everyday usage you wont see marginal difference between intel and AMD, I prefer SSD before CPU because thats where the performance penalty lies. My recomandation for those who build a new system is, Buy AMD APU, put 4Gb and more ram cause it doesent cost much, buy an 64 gig ssd for system and an hdd for files that doesent require to load fast like movies photos mp3's, and you r the winner.
