hmm it seems the memory buffer restricts the card performance
Drool. It would be good to see some pics of the test rig all up and running just to get a sense of scale with 2 of these beasts in a system.Originally Posted by HEXUS
Not a huge performance difference considering the £150 price difference you mention. What happened to the old HEXUS.bang4buck charts?
Disappointed with the 780 Ti but very impressed with the 290X... I wonder what the 290X will run like under water cooling...
no overclocked results? that 15% overclock and massive performance boost was highlight of 290x review, so how come there is no graph for both cards overclocked, disappointment
What about without AA? With all those pixels, do you even need AA. From what I've seen in demos, without AA, the image is crisper and because the pixel density is so large, jaggedy lines are barely noticeable
"Don't mention the war!"
Still with the price hanging I chose R9 290X to be the winner !
Even on a 1080p 24" panel I can barely notice the difference between AA and no-AA: I imagine on a 4k panel at 32" (therefore 4x the pixels in less than twice area) AA is approaching irrelevant. Be interesting to see some side-by-side IQ shots as well as the no-AA performance figures...

I've never used AA - it didn't add anything and just made performance worse. I'm super excited to see how non reference cards turn out for the the 290x

So still no single card that can properly handle 4K gaming? Well... I guess there isn't really much demand for it
It might depend on the game, in BF4, I find AA adds little but it really is obvious in Simcity, which I reinstalled today. I quickly jumped in without changing settings and first thing I thought was; 'erh mar gerd, dur jergies' I had to go back and turn on AA because the buildings and roads are pretty jagged around the edges.
Agree as we go to 4k, AA may be a thing of the past. Graphics cards have enough to deal with at those resolutions....
Best we got so far I am afraid...

Will we see a continuation of this with the 290X?
the 290x seems appealing looking at the price to performance
