Isn't frame pacing now solved for multiple cards with the 290X?

Does it matter which is better at 4k? It'll be years before 4k is mainstream. I suppose its interesting for e-peen measuring but its hardly relevant.

Re: Reviews - AMD Radeon R9 290X vs. Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan at 4K

I fear 4K gaming is still in its infancy, unless people are willing to accept that they need multiple cards to perform a smooth 4K experience, then I regret that we must wait for another generation in GPUs.
Although the R9 290x IS an absolute GODSEND and safe to say, already pre-ordered

Re: Reviews - AMD Radeon R9 290X vs. Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan at 4K

By the time 4K monitors come down to the prices people want to pay for a good quality solution, the titan and 290X will have been replaced with better performing and hopefully cheaper cards.

Decent review, I cant remember the last time a reviewer mentioned unplayable frame rates and suggested a suitable monitor.

Re: Reviews - AMD Radeon R9 290X vs. Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan at 4K

The 290x is a great card for a much better price, Nvidia keep pricing their cards stupidly for such minimal gains.

4k is nowhere near playable, i'd stick to 1080p for a solid 60+fps instead of higher with dips. All the 290x needs is to start coming with aftermarket coolers and it'll be set. I'm sure the 390x will be a beast too, hopefully that comes out around the same time as Nvidia's next card.. both will be GDDR6 i guess, not sure if its worth holding out for those but they could be cards to be top for 1-2 years.

Plus Mantle sounds very interesting, games really should run better on such powerful hardware.. when a game dips below 60fps on such powerful hardware @ 1080p it seems a bit of a joke. So i'll look forward to see what Mantle does for optimization = speed gains.

I'm tempted with the 290 but tbh, it is a lot louder.

I actually value my hearing, who new!

I see 4k gaiming being affordable ish sometime next year; I think it just might depend what the new xbox and ps offer

I'm looking forward to watch movies on 4k monitors screens, but I'm not so sure about gaming in this moment. Kinda lot of money to spend on the monitor first and then you need 2-3 heavy grafics cards to get that experience.
