One thing I've learned the hard way is to protect your gear. I took my 19" monitor to a LAN last summer and didn't have anything covering it in the boot of my car. Unfortunately the edge of my computer case rubbed against the screen scratched it to buggery
A simple bit of polystereine or foam does the trick for your tower and monitor, or if you have the original box use that. It's definately worth the effort, there's nothing worse that scratching your brand spanking new monitor or aluminium case.
