Isn't Virtual Super Resolution essentially just forced super-sampling? Still a neat option to have, I guess.

    Re: AMD Catalyst 'Omega' Driver

So this is the last (=omega) driver we'll see from AMD

Interested to see if the bug fixes hold true - they've said the same in the past but the display sleep bug seems to creep back in again and again.

I'll see if I can test the gains (if any) compared to slightly more recent AMD drivers than May, but hurry up and get this driver WHQL certified guys!

Would have been interested to see what improvements it made to the cheaper end (i.e. my (A8 APU) 8550G + 8570M dual graphics combo I have in my £300 laptop - Sometimes it works great but more often than not the dual graphics doesn't kick in/doesn't improve performance if forced.)

    Re: AMD Catalyst 'Omega' Driver

Doesn't seem to be a lot for the owners of the older (pre-R series) GPU's, but I think I'll give Omega a go anyway, as perhaps the bug fixes are going to be worth having.

Only AMD can compare 1.5 year old driver to newest one when showing performance improvements.

sorry I know I am nvidia fan boy, but, really amd?!

Pretty much. Although having played around with DSR on nVidia kit, I am underwhelmed by it.....and at 1080p (or lower) I found it to be nothing but a way to lower IQ.

    Re: AMD Catalyst 'Omega' Driver

They compared launch driver and this one, seems reasonable, Nvidia does that all the time, and I mean ALL THE TIME, usually intervals as long as 3 years, so yeh.

I had nvdidia for over 10 years, before getting my first radeon, and amd been superb whole time, even if people claim that nvidia drivers are somehow better , maybe in the past, now? Nvidia is slacking with their driver support.

I was just about to ask how a video card feature could make the viewer stupider, and then realised that "IQ" stood for "image quality". I obviously need a cup of coffee!

    Re: AMD Catalyst 'Omega' Driver

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't some community-modded AMD (then ATi) graphics driver called Omega way back when? Must've been around 10 years ago or so.

At least I had a flashback episode of sorts, when I read the title of the Hexus article.

Actually for certain users (namely myself), the 14.4 drivers were the last really stable performing drivers. So I can understand why they would use them as a reference point.

Everything since I have found to be terribly sketchy, so I am looking forward to hopefully resolving the issues on that bug list - to which I have most. Performance boost is a nice to have sure, but for me its about the bugs.

In the blog they use 13.12 and 14.2 as reference points for their performance claims.
