Why no 290 or 290x comparisons on the charts?

Really? No 290 on that comparison? I guess the 280 series was the best contender for this card? Something smells fishy.

Indeed. Where's the 290/x cards Hexus?

In the GPU list, you gave Asus GeForce GTX 960 DirectCU II. However, in the benchmarks, you forgot it?

I wonder if the reviewers chose the comparison cards to either be the cards that would be replaced by a GTX980 or those that might be alternative choices? Looking at the results of earlier Hexus tests of the R9 290X it is similar to (or slower than) the GTX970 and therefore wouldn't be a direct competitor for the GTX980, but is fast enough that it is unlikely to be replaced by it.

If I was going to consider paying almost £500 for the reviewed card, I would probably be willing to stretch to the R9 295X2 but I guess including it might cause the supply of review Nvidia cards to dry up?

While I appreciate that these reviews must be big money earners, they are genuinely boring now. They all read the same. The 980 is currently top, it's cool and quiet but expensive. Done. I would prefer to see more reviews of other hardware categories. You had a great spell after the 960 (which you did 5 reviews of, 4 individual cards and 1 SLI review) of a wide range of other items, more of that please!

Pretty sure most of the money is coming from Nvidia or their partners these days. Or at least you'd be forgiven for thinking so.

Re: PNY GeForce GTX 980 OC2 Pure Performance

Since any 980 is more expensive than a 290x, why do you have the half price 280 and 285 in here for comparison? This stinks of a biased Nvidia commercial and your charts and comparisons are invalid. Please redo the article with AMD 290x results and I might read it.
