Nice card but the price is whack (I understand correct at time of writing). Currently is available (to pre-order) at OC for £499.99, fear of impending Fury X?

Re: Zotac GeForce GTX 980 Ti AMP!

I ordered one of these last night from OcUK and at £499.99 it's probably the cheapest price for a 980 Ti in the UK. I've never owned anything from Zotac before and I hope it doesn't disappoint.

Any reason why you decided to order now instead of waiting for the release from AMD, which might reduce these card prices in response? Saying that, it's probably not going to change much other than compete with the current top end cards.

Re: Zotac GeForce GTX 980 Ti AMP!

Hello, I don't suppose it would be possible to take a picture of the card without the cooler so I can see the pcb cooling plate? I can't find a picture anywhere!

I want to know if there is a separate plate in contact with the VRMs which will help keep them cool when I install a Kraken G10. Thanks for the help!

Because it was the cheapest in the UK at the time for a 980 Ti (probably still is) and I had a feeling the Fury X wouldn't be much better anyway. I feel I made the right choice .

Re: Zotac GeForce GTX 980 Ti AMP!

But there is a catch. Zotac's fans don't turn off at idle, so the card is never silent, and the 90mm trio aren't the quietest, either. Fan speed was recorded as 39 per cent at low-load (roughly 1,350rpm) and increased to 67 per cent (2,350rpm) when gaming.
I'm guessing your review sample had a pre-release vBIOS on it as my retail examples of these cards do have fans that turn off at idle. Infact there is a sticker over the fans that you have to remove before installing stating "Fans will stop spinning in low loads."

Might want to get in touch with Zotac Hexus and see what is going on.

Re: Zotac GeForce GTX 980 Ti AMP!

My Zotac GTX 980 Ti AMP! arrived today and I can 100% confirm the fans do turn off when idle. It seems the fans kick in at around 60C and they are pretty quiet imo (definitely much quieter than the Gigabyte WindForce 3X coolers!). Mine also boosts itself to 1278MHz by default and has an ASIC score of 79.7% (for anyone who cares about that). I'm very impressed with this card .

EDIT: It's actually now boosting to 1290MHz and sitting at around 70C when gaming (still pretty quiet too!).

Really?! Mine are very loud. I guess that is SLi for you.

84c @ 87% fan on the primary card and 76c @ 73% on the secondary card during a single Heaven run (all single screen settings maxed out @ 1440p). Not certain on the room temp, around 20c at a guess. Also compared to my WF3 coolers on my 970s they are a lot louder.

I'll run some benchmarks later when I get the chance and check the temps and fan profile. I think the fans are pretty quiet compared to some other triple fan designs I've used from Gigabyte, Sapphire and PowerColor. What do your cards boost to? The voltage on mine is at 1.18V when boosting to 1290MHz (quick GPU-Z render test)... Not sure if that's good or bad, but the temps seem pretty good .

Re: Zotac GeForce GTX 980 Ti AMP!

Seems part of my problem was poor case airflow, something I'll have to work at. Putting another 140mm fan pointed at the rear of the cards *ghetto style!* with cable ties has dropped the temps to manageable numbers. I've even managed a slight overclock of 200MHz on the core and 500MHz on the memory with +37mV.

To answer your question they boost (as a pair) to about 1290MHz so pretty much the same as yours but with slightly more voltage (1.1990v).

Still not a cooler I'd recommend for SLi but then most aftermarket ones are not really suitable (which I knew to be fair).

Yeah I don't think any of the axial fan coolers are that great when it comes to multi GPU setups (blower types are more suitable). I've not tried overclocking mine yet, but i'm quite impressed with the stock performance so far . The highest temp so far for me has been 71C when gaming and the fans run at 50% at that temp (pretty quiet too imo). My case does have fairly good air flow and plenty of space around the GPU which helps.

I've not got round to doing many benchmark tests yet, but I did manage a 3DMark Fire Strike score of almost 15000 (i7 4790k running stock along with 16GB of Kingston DDR3 1866 RAM and of course the 980 Ti running at it's factory speed of 1290MHz). Nice jump from my reference KFA2 GTX 780 which gave me a Fire Strike score of just under 9000 with the same system.

Any chance of a comparison review of the AMP! Extreme Edition?
The only one I've seen is at Guru3D but I'd like to see how it compares in your tests.

Re: Zotac GeForce GTX 980 Ti AMP!

I ended up getting this when it was on offer too and slapped an Accelero Xtreme III on it.
Stock OC matches stock 290X in crossfire while OCd to 1500 it destroyed.
The stock cooler is good don't get me wrong but the AX is better and fits with the stock vrm plate and backplate still in place.
One thing to consider if you are doing the same; Arctic says to use the 2.5mm spacer for core side but they are too small and the 3.5mm are too big. I ended up using the 2.5mm with the small black washers.
