I think I will get one of these soon to hook up to my AC68 adapter in the desktop whilst allowing me to position the router optimally for all areas of the house to benefit.
The DSL version doesnt work well with most of the custom firmwares as far as I can tell, and as such quite a few of the useful features of the custom firmware are lost (e.g. Loopback/...).
Also, whilst you said it wont significantly increase your power usage/electricity bill, 10W difference equates to about £15/year which is definitely more than I would expect/like...
Wow, these routers uses as much electricity as my full size fridge freezer. Surely someone must be capable in building a high performing energy efficient model in this day and age.
In the market for a new router but this looks to expensive for my liking.
Hello. Have you tested dsl-ac68u with custom firmware such as Merlin? There is no custom firmware to support this model, because it is modem router, not only router. I would like to test it with custom firmware and I dont care if i lose modem function, but I am scared because there is possibility to brick it.
Has anyone tested this modem with a standard UK DSL2 line using the PPPoA protocol? Can anyone confirm whether this modem router supports PPPoA?
I did not test it but there is choice for pppoa.
