Can Asus set the standard for other gaming laptops to follow?

Similar to he Acer Aspire V Nitro Black I got back in Septenger for £799.
    That's a Skylake i5, 960m gt, 8gb dd4 dual channel and a 1tb drive with 256 PCIe ssd.
    More than happy with it.

Keyboards almost identical too. Battery is not removable but it's a lithium cell which I prefer anyway.

Gaming laptops should stop looking "gamery" and they should aim for more subtle looks.

    Dell Inspiron 7559:

Same processor / Same GPU but with 4Gb DDR5 instead of 2Gb / 4k IPS Display / 74Whr Battery instead of 48Whr / Less "gamery" design / 1Tb mechanical drive (with space for SATA3 M2 SSD drive, easily accessible by removing 1 philips screw), 8Gb DDR3 1 stick, 2 bays available

Bought for £820 last October (currently £899 online)...so better GPU / better display / better battery / more subtle design / easy upgrades to RAM and additional SSD if desired.

Or you can just the better GPU and battery for £749 in the base 7559 model, this seems overpriced in comparison.

Not a bad thing, plenty of things Dell do very well.

True, like any company, good and bad stuff.
Tbh I wouldn't normally touch an Acer laptop but this ones built surprisingly well.
After 10 years of fixing laptops I've seen a lot of questionable internal designs.
