This is disappointing i was looking for abit more performance at least equal to a gtx 980, ppl really overhyped this card and those temperatures are on the high side.i guess for the price bracket its ok and for people with 24" monitors that do 1080 its good price
Im thinking of pulling the trigger on this. Should I rather be patient and wait for AIB cards with better coolers or will this be ok for my needs? I will be on one of those 24" 1080p how much more would an AIB card?
Cheers
The more one seeks, the more one finds and so you realise there is a lot more to be found.
I think I'll continue to wait and see what they bring out next. I won't go as high as £600 but not as low as £200.
Is it me or is this another R9 290X launch - meh cooler, throttling and drivers probably not quite there. I hope AMD can salvage this!!
There are also reports of the cards going over PCI-E specification for power draw!
Seriously - WTF AMD??
Have to say that I'm underwhelmed by the performance. AMD keep promising, however fail to live up to the hype. Although the cost per performance is still high, they simply aren't keeping up with what NVIDIA are offering, which as a lover of AMD cards is frustrating. While I wouldn't be happy paying £500+ for a top end card, at least I can get a reasonably good performance for a decent price, but for some reason I just want more...

Edit!!
It looks like the 4GB model is not being made anymore - might be true they are artificially gimped 8GB models??
But it clearly isn't a performance card. You get a 970 for £180, with all the modern bells and whistles. No doubt before long Nvidia will offer exactly the same performance for another tenner to try and maintain their "premium feel".
Vega is supposed to be 4096 shaders, so nearly twice what we see here. If twice this performance is enough, then that is the one to wait for.
I must admit I don't feel compelled to rush out and replace my 380 at this performance level, but let's see what a bigger power connector and twin/triple fan heatpipe cooling bring us. Would be fascinated to see one of these with an AIO water cooler too.
Just read the Ars Technica article, they stopped their card from throttling by manually turning the fan up a bit. Perhaps the noise tuning is a bit too aggressive atm.
I can see the 4GB models being really popular in pre-built PCs, the sort of thing where a "VR-Ready" tick box might stand out but so would another £40 on the price.
As an aftermarket card, people may well prefer to get the higher end version. Heck, I would only be interested in an OC 8GB card.
So much for it being a match for a 980, it barely keeps pace with the 970 and both of those are nearly 2 years old now.
Wonder how many pre-orders get canned.

I can tell you why the performance is so inconsistent, this card doesn't have enough ROP's vs Cores, it should have at least 48 but if it had 64 it would smash GTX970 no problem
