Seagate Backup Plus Ultra Slim 2TB

Attractive and slim, but is there an Achilles' heel?

    I'd rather have a 9.5mm drive bigger than 2tb

That's terrible performance for a drive marketed for backup use. It's so slow, I'd question whether the sample was defective or if there's a bug in a driver somewhere.

Re: Seagate Backup Plus Ultra Slim 2TB

Besides being slow, 2 Tb for a backup drive seems really small nowadays.
With more and more users moving to SSDs in the daily use there is more stuff stored away on backup drives since there is not enough space to leave it sitting on the main drives.

Re: Seagate Backup Plus Ultra Slim 2TB

2TB is pretty good size-wise for storing most everyday files (pdfs, spreadsheets and whatnot). It's fairly useless for a big HD video archive, but it could even be of use storing SD VHS rips/old family videos. My own little archive of family videos in SD MPEG-2 format (720x576) is only just shy of a single TB. The main thing I don't like about this drive is the speed and cost. It's definitely got the look though.
