Call of Duty: United Offensive Expansion Pack

The difficulty level has been ramped up a little too, so even on the easiest level, you’ll find yourself dying a few times. This extends the playing time a touch, but not a whole lot and you’ll probably find you’ve finished the game after 6-8 hours of play. That said, this is an expansion pack and not a full game and the price reflects that. As such, it’s well worth the money of anyone who has CoD and wants some more of the same with a few extra bits thrown in.

Nice review, completely agree with it. On the origional CoD I played it through on the normal skill level but this one found myself starting again on easy, bit with the bunkers at the begining is really tough, especially getting that darned gun mounted !

I have MoH AA here and have never bought any of the expansions for it (dont buy expansions for other games really either, didnt bother with Oppsing Force for HL, did borrow and play Blue Shift through however) but waited with bated breath for UO and day of release bought it, havnt finished it yet as I tend to go through phases with games, playing a little on one then moving to another.

Biggest improvement on UO is the fact that it uses Direct X 9 features (CoD just used DX 8) so thats why you get the lovely effects that look so realistic.

Have to say to anyone that has been thinking on getting this, get it, you wont be dissapointed at all, best £20 I've spent on a game in ages.

Very good review with some nice points brought up. I loved playing the single player, certainly a good yarn for the money (if you've not bought CoD click here , at £27 with UO you've got no excuse!

My only points of complaint were:
    1. Gets too repetetive
    2. Short (yes, I know it's an expansion)
    3. Multiplayer is fairly bad. I, like every competetive CoD gamer I know found the multiplayer to get very boring as games become overrun by tanks and machine gunners. While I can't speak for people who enjoy 'pubbing' (who may find it very enjoyable) I think I speak for the majority of the serious CoD scene when I say it hasn't taken off.

Personally i found it a good exp pack, online multi is somewhat repetitive.

Love the tanks etc, we lan party here with two teams of 4, it's better than online as you can set local rules/objectives.

I have all the MOHAA exp packs (except as below) Ferral, pretty much the same as AA.

Pacific Assault is the only one I didn't get as I was somewhat disappointed with the demo.

    Keep on gaming

Pacific Assault was a whole separate game, dont have to have AA to play it, the reviews I have seen I dont like the look of it to much to be honest, definately a CoD man now

Err, no, you definately do not speak for the majority. And if you think that tanks rule the games then you are badly mistaken. A well plased Panzerfaust can take out most tanks in a single hit. OK, there are some situations where you run into the path of one, or when you're driving a jeep, and they own you with a single blast, but they're minimal situations compared to the amount of times you easily here them and a ) hide till they pass or b ) fire of a Panzer, nearly destroying them.

As for deplyable machine guns, I don't know anyone who uses them as they're so slow to deploy you're normally dead before you can fire! They are only handy for large clans where extra fire power is needed from a distance but whilst you're being covered.

I'm in a CoD clan and we only have a CoD server at the moment, but we all play, and love, UO. The new weapons, sprinting, new maps and new game types make it the best WWII multiplayer FPS out there. Heck, I even think it's far better then the "hacker elitist" choice, CS:S!

SP is nowhere near as good though.

currently playing this through and find that im dying way too often and mainly due to the absolutely craptastic friendly A.I , they do nothing but get in the way and ensure that you cant shoot the enemy but they can shoot you ,
graphics are good though as already said and gameplay aint too bad but does fairly often turn into 10 dumb friendly A.I shooting blanks and you trying to kill 10 gazillion enemy soldiers while friendlies lob grenades at your feet

its still way better than the moh exp packs tho

The single player was enjoyable but the multi turned a tactical battle into a tank fest. On our server now we just use the new maps and weapons and have dumped the tanks and jeeps. It detracts too much from the skill that cod bought with it.

If anyone here play competitively we would love a game sometime so give us a shout here. Or if you fancy a new server to play on let me know and i will post the IP. We are very friendly always have admins on

Strange that, last time I played it it took 2 - 3 shots to take out a tank. :s

And as for not speaking for the majority of the community I was reffering to the serious gaming community, and I'd be interested to know how many clans have moved, as I must admit I haven't heard of any so far. (Although it may depend on what you call serious).

I think that everyone's entitled to their opinion and if you think it's good I don't have a problem with that, I just gave my two cents.

P.S. Source isn't as bad as many people make it out to be.

Method of Tank removal with one shot:

Hide until the tank has passed then hit them from behind in the engine bay

    One shot kill every time

I would class myself as a serious gamer, especially when it comes down to CoD, even though I've only been playing online about 6 months or so... The rest of my clan also think UO is better then the original CoD. DoW don't even play the original CoD anymore, and they're a pretty big and very serious clan that my brother is in.

OK, perhaps my post was a little biased, but as I said I think you are wrong about tanks overrunning the games. Thanks ANZAC for confirming what I said about well placed Panzers..

Anyway, as SmileyUK said, you can disable vehicles if you want, I just think they make it a little more interesting sometimes. But as you say, it is just my opinion (and that of quite a few others I know).
