    Shame the rtx2070 is apparently nearly £600 when the prices were briefly leaked on the OcUK webshop. Even if the article hints the RTX2080 is 15% faster than a GTX1080TI,does that mean the RTX2070 is GTX1080TI level? I suppose that places it at GTX1080TI level price performance with ray tracing tech. I suppose that makes it better value than I expected but still kind of not as big a leap for traditional games unless DLSS can be used.

    I'm of the opinion that Nvidia have moved their model numbers along a notch

    Titan -> 2080Ti
    1080Ti -> 2080
    1080 -> 2070

    There also seems to gaps in the SKUs. The 2080Ti doesn't use all the chip cores, leaving room for a "Titan T" above the 2080Ti. Same with the 2080, which uses a different chip to the Ti, meaning the long-rumoured "2080+" might slot in between the 2080 & Ti.

    Why? GTX460 was faster than the GTX 280, sometimes generational performance jumps can be huge, bigger than we are seeing here.
    There is nothing stopping Nvidia from releasing a Titan using Turing at some future point, or a 2070ti.

    I think they have moved their *pricing* along, which shows what they think of us customers as a milkable commodity. Their model numbers seem sensible, other than the grating inability to count on the first two digits for the generations: "680", "780", "880m" "980", "1080", "2080".

    So basically they've taken what used to be capable of running all four compute tasks and split it into four logical segments so they can be run concurrently.

    It depends if the algorithms work well with GDDR6 initially - apparently the cards with GDDR5X didn't work as well as the GDDR5 ones initially meaning secondhand the GTX1070 reached GTX1080 level pricing last year!
