    They are ideal for basic office use, running Outlook and Word. No better than the AMD chips, no worse, but whilst the likes of Dell only sell Intel product the i3 is the obvious choice.

    Plus there are plenty of people who would buy Intel because they perceive it to be a much superior product. Same as Apple for example
    Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!

    Bristol ridge is also ideal for outlook and word, and costs a lot less. Value is just as important as any benchmark, and the intel i3's don't offer any

    when is 9th Gen coming to market I wonder? supposedly 9th Gen will have hardware level meltdown fix, besides a much better igc, and other details, 10nm etc...

    For basic office use I expect a company to buy a Dell Optiplex. I haven't seen one of those with an AMD chip, so there simply isn't a value proposition.

    I just ordered a Dell laptop with an i7 for the same reason. Would have loved to get something AMD based, specially as loading Linux on it would be easier, but there just wasn't an option for me.
