Just a shame it uses the crappy 'Max Q' variant 1070 GPU.

It's marketing BS at its finest, give it a 1070 label but only get slightly better than 1060 desktop levels of performance, which makes it very overpriced at £2200.

You pay north of 2 grand, and they still include spyware?

Shame about the throttling - if you want a semi-mobile desktop replacement then the ASUS laptop with full fat ryzen will leave this in the dust in any CPU-centric task (and if you aren't unplugging it, then the extra size is a boon); whereas any ryzen mobile laptop will easily outpace this in any task when unplugged (including the R3 2200U - 60s for pifast is a joke)

This i7 launch just shows what a difference money can make. When AMD launched 2500U and 2700U there were 2 laptops, one of them was not available and one was crippled. Now, that Intel launched its new processors, there are a million offerings with all the possible GPUs, memory, SSD, display, chassis combination. You name it.

The gigabyte installed stuff. I'm happy for windows to take anonymous data for their SAAS magic, but gigabyte are just offering hardware - what do they need to scrape data for?

Hi bagpuss - The gigabyte AERO15 is available with a full fat GTX1060 variant (AERO15W v8-CF1) and yes we utilize the MaxQ version for the AERO15X version.

MaxQ design enables the higher rated card to be installed in the slim chassis and offers less thermal (and therefore fan noise) challenges, than the full fat card.

The performance is still higher and more capable from a graphics perspective than the GTX1060 version, but offers end users a choice that is still a step up in performance.

It is priced logically, performs great and as stated, customers have a choice based on their usage demands.

    Hi Hoonigan,

The press NDA was lifted on the 3rd April, the day the reviews and articles went live.

Embargo date for selling to end users is 16th April,,,, today, so all pre-orders placed with partners should be despatched today (assuming sufficient stock to cover the demands of course)

    Regards,

    Gigabyte UK NB Team
