Too expensive - can get almost there with an m-itx setup
Old puter - still good enuff till I save some pennies!
Curious to know what the driver situation is for the GPU: does it use custom software or standard AMD drivers? Wondering whether we're looking at dev/launch levels of performance with room to improve over time, or if we're level-pegging with latest AMD release.
Early comparisons from IBM were claiming that this chipset would generally just about outperform an i7/GTX1060 6GB combo, so to see Hexus benchmarking below that level makes me wonder where the overhead is.
so to put this into persective my £30 2nd hand i7 2600 cpu gets like 20% less in cinebench
Why why why.... would you not compare it to the Skull Canyon.
I have one, and was really looking for a nice comparison to Skull.
Managed to pick up a STEAL of Skull on ebay, with 32Gb of ram and 512Gb SSD for what i thought was a heavily used box. Turns out the guy had bought it for a customer who walked away. So everything was box fresh, and still in its wrapping.
Hades makes sense to me, same size (roughly), and I can migrate the ram, SSD etc from the Skull to Hades. Then consider using the Skull for some cheap ESXi fun.
1) so I can get the full potential out of 3200MHz RAM sticks even though 2400MHz is listed on intel's website?
2) any chance you can test this with a 1080 ti via eGPU? I wanna know how much performance loss is.

Tarinder, you will be a legend if you can do this! I can attest that the Skull Canyon's limit for me, is around what the source engine can do. HL2, CS:GO, TF2, all spot on, I can get 60fps+ with most of the eye candy turned up to high or ultra. Can't say I have tried anything more taxing, as I know it would struggle.
Can you post here when the updates are added please?
@Tarinder
the internal GPU is only good for 1080p gaming. I am interested in 1440p gaming with the eGPU. I'd appreciate it if you could test the 1080 ti with this.
I too have the previous skull canyon, Love it as my little HTPC under telly, Not that good for gaming unless it's games like lego series.
Would also like to see a comparison against this new beast.
