Why is the AMD system using 1T memory and the Intel using 2T? that trident memory should work in both systems to give a far more accurate picture. The Intel typology may not be able to take advantage of the command rate but I remember paying far higher prices for 1T memory that was speed binned to get the 1T stable. If people are using two quid processors then putting two hundred dollar memory up against eight hundred dollar memory seems a bit posed?

Fairish point, but the gain proportion is better than the power increase proportion - and even without pushing more power in a chip will use more power as it's frequency increases.

Point is, Intel really needs to take a hammer to its full range of cpu's

Money is the number 1 reason pick parts on upgrades, can i afford this part or that part, at the moment intel is simply too expensive all round.

I can't see them cutting prices anytime soon as by all accounts demand is outstripping supply so it's unlikely they'll want to spook investors by announcing a drop in profit margins or revenues.

The current short supply of high end parts is keeping them expensive.

I cant see that they are going to come back down to "real" prices either. Take GPUs for example. I remember only paying around £275 for a GTX970. They are never going to come back down to this sort of price again.

If they are it doesn't seem to be purposefully as they've contacted out some stuff and are apparently bringing more fab capacity online, it's probably more down to the long, long, long delayed 10nm.

Not really.
CPU Block - £80~110
Pump - £50~70
Reservoir - £50~100
Radiator - £70~150
Tubing, liquid - £20~30
Fittings - £50+
Fans - £20~60

And that's just the CPU, if you want to also water cool the GPU/s add about £110 for each GPU block, more fittings, and depending on your requirements even a 2nd pump and radiator.

really. I'd happily take a small hit in any benchmark and save a couple of grand. A few seconds wait for several grand saving, yes, please.
